Daily Divine Word:
March 18, 26 – Wednesday, Fourth Week of Lent: I will never forget you
Isaiah 49:8-15, John 5:17-30
Is anything stable?: Is anything permanent in this world or is everything is passing? This is one of the common questions that pops of in many of us at different times and situations. The people of Israel were not an exception to this experience. In the first reading, prophet Isaiah is talking to people who wondered if anything was stable in this world. They were going through hard times. Their country was plundered by the Babylonians. Everything had been burned down and trampled on. They were taken into slavery, and they wondered if a better day would ever come back in their lives. They even thought that their God lacked power to make a difference in their situation. Some of them thought their God had forgotten them. God does not remember them anymore. Everything in this world may be fleeting away but God is permanent and real.
I will never forget you: In the midst of the depressing situation, the prophet Isaiah proclaims a message of hope: God is at work and he will liberate his people and make ways to return to their own land. He assures that God has neither forgotten nor abandoned them. God cannot forget his people. He is always busy working and making ways for his people. He is preoccupied with His people. When God forgets his people, his people will cease to exist.
Love beyond human bond: God’s love is beyond human bond. God’s love is more profound and eternally enduring than human bond. Divine love surpasses human love. Human love calculates divine love shatters boundaries.
God is at work indefinitely: We hear Jesus saying that his Father is at work all the time and so am I. God is not confined by time, day or worldly limitations. God woks to create, share and sustain life and goodness.
